War Horse Cities CDC hosted a meeting at James McHenry Elementary School to hear vital input from the Hollins Market Community about the coming renovation. Though still in the early stages, we want to include the community in every step of the way to ensure the newly renovated market is the best it can be and meets the needs of residents, merchants, customers. Some of the suggestions for the market from the more than 70 community members present included fresh fruit, meat, and vegetables, coffee, chocolatier, pre-packaged foods, bar, various casual foods and more.

Hollins Market Community Meeting

April 11, 2018

At the Hollins Market Community Meeting, Jim Mills, Director of Design and Development at War Horse Cities and Ana Castro of JRS Architects presented preliminary plans for the Hollins Market Shed as well as a community wayfinding plan, which includes public-safety, trash, art, lighting, and more.

"The plans were met with optimism by community residents. Some asked about leasing opportunities in the new market and others asked about how War Horse and the city planned to keep the market area clean and tidy, unlike the area outside Lexington Market downtown that is constantly strewn with debris.

"We are very community-oriented," Mills said. "We want a mixed bag of small retailers and restaurants and other makers of small items. We're focused on keeping the market focused on food and are now working
with a retail specialist" on the mix of vendors." - The Baltimore Business Journal
